Current Research

The Nashville Centre for Laser and Facial Surgery continues to be actively involved in developing and testing new lasers, medications and technology-based treatments to help you look your best safely and effectively.   Our recent and upcoming projects include:

  • Evaluation of a topical botulinum product. The Nashville Centre for Laser and Facial Surgery was one of only 4 centers to participate in FDA Phase II clinical testing of a topically applied cream containing a Botox-like drug. The results of this study were so favorable that Phase III testing is expected to start in the near future. We have been asked to participate as a site for this study as well. Enrollment has not yet begun for this study. Stay tuned to the website for details on this study as they become available. UPDATE!!! NOW ACCEPTING APPLICANTS FOR PHASE III. Volunteer for a clinical study.

  • Evaluation of a new skin resurfacing device known as the eMatrix™. This device is currently used in our practice to help improve the appearance of sun damaged skin. The goal of the study is to evaluate the combined effect of eMatrix resurfacing and skin tightening. This study has been completed.
  • Refinement of a skin resurfacing system to tighten and smooth eyelid skin. The 6 month follow up has just been completed and final data analysis is underway.
  • Evaluation of a new topical product known as Allumera that is used in combination with IPL treatment to improve the appearance of sun damaged skin. We will be treating the upper arms and comparing the results of 3 vs. 6 treatments with this product. This study is full and not seeking new subjects.
  • Evaluation of a novel home-use skin resurfacing device. This device is intended for use by consumers in their homes to smooth wrinkles and improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin without discomfort or recovery. This study is full and not seeking new subjects.
  • Evaluation of a new injectable drug to ‘melt’ fat deposits in the neck. The majority of the studies with this drug have been performed in Europe. We have been asked to be one of the first US sites to participate in an FDA Phase III Clinical Trial. This study has been completed.
  • Development of a new application for Ulthera™ a noninvasive skin tightening device, on the eyelids. Ulthera is currently used on the forehead to lift the brows and in the lower face and neck to reduce fullness and accentuate the jawline. Treating the eyelids requires the development of a new handpiece and, after several years of work, this is almost ready for testing.  This study is full and not seeking new subjects.
We are always interested in finding subjects for our studies.  All studies are performed under strict regulatory oversight and guidance.  We can not promise that you will be a selected candidate for a study as the inclusion and exclusion criteria are very strict. Volunteer for a clinical study.
